John Winters to speak at February 2 Morning Buzz


Morning Buzz, the popular new program hosted by the Chamber’s Young Professionals (those 21-45 or young at heart), will launch its 2016 program series tomorrow, February 2, at 7:30am at Leaf and Bean, 22 West Court Square, Newnan. Morning Buzz gives YPs the opportunity to meet some of the community's most successful and important leaders while connecting with other YPs and learning information that will help them achieve their goals and aspirations. February's guest speaker will be John Winters, Publisher of the Newnan-Times Herald.

John is a 28-year veteran of the newspaper industry with experience from reporter to publisher.  Three-time Pulitzer Prize nominee, his former positions include Washington, D.C. bureau chief, publisher of the Juneau Empire in Juneau, Alaska; general manager of the Grand Island Independent (Neb.); director of Morris News Service, a national news service with more than 30 newspapers and combined circulation of more than 600,000.

Chamber will name new Prosperity Award winners on February 4!

Announcing our 2016 Membership Event, March Madness!

We're so excited to announce that March Madness will be the theme for this year's Membership Event, set for March 1-3, 2016, and you'll be hearing more about this event in the coming days. A VIP Lunch for the event was held at Summergrove Golf Club last week, and the leaders attending included, at front, Alora Brock of CTCA and Maggie McSweeney of Cardinal Waste Solutions; second row, Cleatus Phillips of the City of Newnan, Chip Barron of Lindsey's Realtors, Dr. Tonya Whitlock of West Georgia Technical College, Tony Ferguson of Georgia Power, Chamber President and CEO Candace Boothby, Gerald Kemp of Fidelity Bank, Dr. Kyle Marrero of the University of West Georgia; and at back, Steve Daniel of West Georgia Technical College, Mike Robertson of Piedmont Newnan Hospital, Frank Barron of Lindsey's Realtors, Levi Robinson of Advanced Technology Logistics and David Watts of Infiniti of South Atlanta. Not present was Dennis McEntire of Newnan Utilities.

Your Chamber Connection (YCC), which led our highly successful 2014 Membership Event, is returning to lead us in this year's event. Ellie Braxton of YCC explained the goals of the Membership Event to those attending the luncheon. She said the campaign will help members share our Chamber's story in the community.

Playing on the March Madness basketball theme, basketballs and whistles were used in the table decor for the luncheon. Look for more information about how you can help us with this Membership Event in the coming days!

Business-After-Hours is at Frank's this Thursday!


Our first Business-After-Hours networking event of the year is set for Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Frank's Family Restaurant in Palmetto! Dennis McEntire to narrate journey to prosperity at Annual Meeting!
