We're pleased to announce that Leadership Coweta will soon hold ribbon cuttings for two of its Little Free
Libraries projects! A ribbon
cutting at the Newnan/Coweta Boys and Girls Club will be Tuesday, March 28, at 5
p.m., and a ribbon cutting at the First
Avenue Park will be Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m. A third location, the
Seavy Street Park in Senoia, will have its ribbon cutting on May 9.
The libraries operate on the honor
system—anyone can take a book or leave a book—and all kinds of books are
welcome. According to Littlefreelibrary.org, millions of books are exchanged
each year through this network of neighborhood book exchanges. The most common
form is a small wooden box.
“Oldcastle Precast is
honored to be a part of the Little Free Library movement initiated by
Leadership Coweta’s Class of 2017,” said Bryan Tidwell, project
manager/production scheduler. “By sponsoring a library across the street from
the Newnan/Coweta Boys & Girls Club on Wesley Street, we are increasing the
accessibility of books for individuals of all ages and creating a greater
awareness for the need to support literacy efforts here in Coweta County.”
Sponsors
of the project are Keep Newnan Beautiful and Old Castle Precast, and West
Georgia Technical College is responsible for the construction of First Avenue
Park’s Little Free Library, at left.
