Saturday's RiverFest to benefit new bike trail fund

The Friends of Chattahoochee Bend State Park have launched a new Trail Fund to create 40 miles of mountain bike trails at the park. These trails will include the West Zone, a five-mile beginner to intermediate trail highlighting the Chattahoochee River Basin; the Central Zone, a five- to eight-mile gateway trail for beginners and families new to mountain biking; the North Zone, eight to 12 miles of intermediate trails with a “back country” feel; and the East Zone, 15 to 18 miles of advanced trails with boulder and rock formations.

This weekend, the Friends are sponsoring RiverFest in downtown Newnan as a benefit for this new trail fund. Chattahoochee Bend State Park RiverFest is set for Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at the Greenville Street Park from noon to 4 p.m.

Riverfest will feature a Tug-O-War Pool, Bicycle Pump Track, mountain bike demos, a presentation on the effort to build mountain bike trails by Sorba Atlanta, live music from Triple Shot, food trucks, a rock climbing wall, vendors and more. For more information, please visit bendfriend.org.
